ST GEORGE‘S overcame a spirited challenge by PE City to maintain their unbeaten record and position at the top of the Pefa Premier League on Saturday.

The log-leaders struck virtually from the kick-off to lead 3-1 at the break. Anele Mxoli (2), Farouk Abrahams and Damien Ho Chong scored for St George‘s.

Jason Aitken and Sydney Makelini scored for the Victoria Park outfit to make the final score 4-2.

On Friday evening Callies finally broke their drought when they beat City Pirates 3-0. However, they made heavy weather of the victory and should have had far more than the 1-0 lead at half-time.

Jomo Dlula (2) and Kurt Petersen gave Callies their first win of the season.

In the university derby NMMU notched up an easy 4-1 win over their counterparts from the NMMU-Vista campus who have conceded 13 goals in their past two matches.

In the curtain-raiser the student teams drew 0-0 in a First Division encounter. Defending Premier League champions Warriors edged out Young Chiefs 2-1.
