1903 - Currie Cup Tournament - Border vs Griqualand West

These two losing teams met on the Union ground after lunch, when the Border fielded. The first batsmen were Parkin and Powell, opposed by Johnson and Gordon.

Both played steadily, the first half dozen overs not producing as many runs. After a half-an-hours play, with the score at 19, Powell put the ball into Randellís hands at point, he contributing eight.

Glover took the vacant end and cut Gordon neatly in slips for a couple, but Johnson found his stumps in the succeeding over. 23-2-2.

Gibbsí first stroke was four off Gordon, while Parkin undrove Johnson for a couple, and later on treated Gordon in like manner.

Parkin legged Johnson to boundary, and hit Gordon there also. With 40 up Griffith took the ball from Johnson, and after a few strokes Gibbs lost his wicket to Gordon, having scored 13, the board showing 55 runs for three wickets.
