Work started in January, 1989, on the revamping of Castle Corner at the cricket ground in St George's Park. The corner was terraced and surrounded by a waist-high wall. The work was competed before the second leg of the Nissan Shield semi-final against Western Province on February 18, 1989, and in time for the South African Test cricket centenary celebrations.

On December 12, 1992, Jimmy Venter branch manager of Cadac, (left) and Doug Klerck, cricket fan and accountant, tried out the new gas cooking facilities at Cadac Corner, next to Castle Corner, at St George's Park cricket ground. The facilities were available free of charge to spectators who wished to braai while watching cricket.
