Currie Cup Gets Sponsors

The Secretary the South African Cricket Association, Mr Charles Fortune, announced on July 15, 1972 that sponsorship of the Currie Cup cricket competition was to be made available and would be accepted with the agreement of the unions affiliated to the South African Cricket Association.

Mr Fortune said the decision to accept the sponsorship was made at a meeting of the South African Cricket Association's Board of Control the previous evening.

It was hoped that the sponsorship scheme would apply from the start of the next Currie Cup season. The amount was not yet known.
